Eggshell is considerably thicker (up to 30% thicker). Older hen has better bones and calcium deposits are bigger. Since our method is stress free, there is no over secretion of Ca; no powdery "bloom", and no misshaped eggs. This goes even for big eggs (XXL). This derives far less breakage than in first cycle.
There is no labor involved in Second Cycle molting, while introducing new flock demands considerable amount of manpower. Only once a day you need to remove feathers. THE LOWEST MORTALITY
Mortality during the molting depends on quality of housing. Best mortality we ever had was 0,17% and the absolute worst was 1,97%. Reason for such low mortality is brief time of molting procedure-only 7 days. We don’t “torture” hens into the molting, we trigger it. Approximately 30 minutes after admission of premix, EVERY hen starts molting and on day 6 there is not a single egg in house. After molting, mortality is several times lower than before. We attribute this to older and more mature immune system. Usually in farms where annual mortality was 1,2% before molting it falls back to 0,35%.
ANIMAL FRIENDLY METHOD
During Second cycle molting, hens are not deprived of feed or water or light It lasts 7 days. During preparation period we increase the quality of feed. We are triggering molting with our herbs/minerals mixture. Mortality in most cases is less than 0,8%. Hens are getting out of it healthier than before, stronger than before and even more good looking than before.
